This detector can detect Liquid Propane Gas (LP) and Natural Gas (Methane). Gas alarms are a vital home safety item if you heat or cook with propane gas or natural gas. Even if your sense of smell is intact, you may be unaware of a gas leak. Natural gas safety and propane gas safety is more than keeping pilot lights lit. Hidden gas leaks from sewer gas seeping into sump pits, cracked gas lines, etc, can explode from a spark from a light switch or security alarm activation. Install gas leak monitors near sources of potential gas leaks: water heaters, furnaces, fireplaces, heating stoves and cook tops or ovens fueled by natural gas, propane gas or butane gas.
